What does it mean to be a transfer student?
A transfer student is defined as a student who is currently enrolled in a college or university who desires to enroll in a different 4-year university. This can be done in one of two ways.
Transfer as a community college student
Students will enroll in a community college and enroll in courses that will satisfy the General Education requirements and any other required courses from the new university students will be applying to. On average, this process takes about 2 years to complete and requires students to have completed at least 60 units prior to transferring.
Transfer as a 4-year to 4-year university student
Students who are already enrolled in a 4-year university who wish to attend a different 4-year university can apply as a transfer student during their 1st and 2nd year of college. Students are required to enroll in classes required by the new university based on the intended majors. Each university has their own specific requirements so it is crucial to look over them as soon as possible!
